Problem

Ares Modena is a prestigious hyper-luxury automaker based in Modena, Italy. They produce high-end electric vehicles across multiple categories including bikes, motorcycles, scooters, cars and more.

Currently, Ares Modena customers have little visibility into or control over their fleet of electric vehicles. They lack an integrated system to do things such as tracking the real-time location and status of each vehicle or monitoring vehicle statistics. These limitations result in a fragmented ownership experience that does not live up to the sophistication and exclusivity of Ares Modena's brand.

Ares Modena sought to transform this experience by developing an integrated mobility app giving customers total oversight, control and connectivity with their fleet of electric vehicles.

Solution

My role focused on designing the concept, key features and user flows for this app to create a seamless, high-end experience tailored to Ares Modena's hyper-luxury clientele.

By researching Ares Modena's requirements and competitors, I identified essential functionalities for the mobility app including the ability to track each vehicle's real-time location and status, monitor statistics like battery level and vehicle usage, activate features directly from the phone acting as a key, and share digital keys with valets, chauffeurs and family members.

The high-fidelity mockups showcase an intuitive interface and elegant aesthetics customized for Ares Modena customers. The app experience transforms electric vehicle ownership into an effortless, connected lifestyle that aligns with Ares Modena's promise of hyper-luxury mobility.

Results

The app concept was prototyped to be presented at an event were key features could be experienced. While a working prototype has yet to be developed and rigorously tested, early encouraging reactions indicate the proposed solutions have the potential to meet customers' needs and fulfill Ares Modena's vision.

However, as a working prototype has not yet been developed, fully implemented user testing is still needed to rigorously validate the design and refine it based on comprehensive user feedback.

Challanges

The main challenge was that Ares Modena had not fully defined their vision for the app beyond basic functions. Through desk research on exclusive luxury vehicle customers and a competitors analysis, I gained a better understanding of the target audience's needs and expectations.

For instance, digital key sharing proved to be valuable: by allowing owners to grant access to multiple vehicles to assistants, family and friends via their phone, this function enables greater convenience and control that is valuable for fleet management of exclusive vehicles.

Overall, the research and analysis helped me map out the full set of features to offer in the app and determine which were most important to prioritize based on Ares Modena's target audience.
